Luxury of Goodness

I would've been a better man in better times
I smile at the sound of laughing children
Running barefoot through the grass
The smell of mountain air.
I have given coins to amputees,
Wondered at the stars.
Traded dark feelings for joy,
And I have loved.

The luxury of goodness.
Is there an equation for morality?
I only bolted the barricade.

I would've been a better man in better times.
Most aren't even tested.
